In December 2024, we provided 31 water tanks to Los Cebollines. The community has well water but each family can only access it for 2 hours every 4th day. The water tanks allow storage of enough water to last a typical family through that 4 day period.
We also installed 33 high-efficiency stoves and water filters to the community of Las Peñas, whose only access is 2-1/2 hours from Jalapa via 4×4 vehicle. These families can now cook in a smokeless environment while at the same time reducing firewood consumption by 70%. The water filters, filter ground water from a natural spring, their only source of drinking water, and reduces the incidence of intestinal diseases.
